Keep those page turns coming…
It's been a week alright. Some close friends asked about how my writing was going, and I had to tell them, no contract yet except for that one short story, no agent getting excited... you can see in their eyes, that they've decided I am not going to make it as a writer. I can hear it in their words when they gently suggest I try a few other things with my time instead of spending so many hours writing. They mean well and they love me, but they don't understand how publishing works. They think I am deluding myself that I can ever get anywhere with it, if I haven't by now. I get it, I get where they are coming from, but I see signs of hope. I see workshops helping me become a better writer. I see my stories getting stronger. And I just want to say to all of you writers out there, if you are getting discouraged and need a kind word, ask me and I will tell you how great you are. Only other writers truly understand what a journey it is to being published, so I want to tell you this today. I see you. I think you are amazing. I love your way with words, and the creative tales you spin. I know with all my heart that if you keep at it, you will get your break. Hang in there, writer friends. You've got this. Keep turning that next page!
